Offline maths games and activities

Below are some fun ways to practice MATHS skills offline throughout the day, through active games and challenges! :)

  • Baking
  • Go on an indoor or outdoor scavenger hunt: find the length/weight/area/capacity of a variety of given objects. Look for 2D and 3D shapes. Look for patterns and tessellations, or create your own! Draw and label what you find, or order objects by size/length/etc.
  • Turn a ball game (bowling/target board/etc) into a maths challenge- give each target or skittle a different value or a sum to complete: add up your score)
  • Time yourself on a challenge or run
  • Play dice games (lots of lovely examples on twinkl- search 'maths dice games') or use dice to create your own sums and worksheets (for example, roll two dice to make a two digit number, the roll one again to make another number and add/subtract/multiply/divide)
  • Create your own board game, including maths challenge cards or sums on the board. Board game template can be found here, or create your own :)
  • Create a shop at home- earn money for completing tasks (1/2/5c), and buy treats or colouring sheets :)
