Middle Room Activities: May 5-8

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well! :) 
Well done to everyone who sent in their videos and photos for the Whole School Olympics challenge- great to see everyone is keeping active! If anyone else has photos or videos for the challenge, you have some extra time to get them sent in this week to be added to the post- we'd love to see them! :) 
Below is some suggested work for this week. Remember you can contact me on katiemag95@gmail.com  with any queries, questions or worries, or to share what you have been up to during the week- I would love to hear how you have been getting on, or see your projects, activities and creations, and to share them with your classmates here on the blog. Thanks to everyone who have been sending updates- its great to hear from you. :) 



PE
Remember to take regular movement breaks while working, outdoors if the weather is good, or indoors if not! 
-Do a Joe Wicks, Just Dance, or Go Noodle video
-Go for a walk or cycle
-Play sports or a game outside
-Do some yoga

ART:
Keep up the creativity! You could draw or paint something, create a collage, make something from clay or recycles materials, try some sewing, knitting or weaving, bake salt dough decorations, try some origami...let your imagination run wild! :)

WRITING
Creative Writing: 'A Trip of a Lifetime'
Write a story based on a trip of a lifetime: If you could go anywhere, where would you go? What would you do there? Who would come with you? What might you see? How would you get there? What would you need to bring? Where would you stay? Be creative- remember, it can be anywhere from your back garden to the moon! :) 


MATHS
Maths Time  - Week 28

  • Set up a 'shop' or 'restaurant': Create your own advertisements, with sales, or make menus with prices for meals, make receipts
  • Play Monolopy 
  • Use catalogs or online shop websites to write imaginary shopping lists, and work out how much you would spend based on your list; how much change you would get from a set amount

Béal Beo 3 - Continue activities based on week two of 'AN TEILIFÍS' (pg 128-134 for book work)https://www.edcolearning.ie/. (Breakdown below is just to help, you don't have to do all activities :) )

  • Pg 129: Draw the picture and finish/write the sentences underneath  (1. I went to the cinema and I saw _____ 2. I went to the cinema and I ate _____ 3. I went to the cinema and I drank____)
  • Pg 130: Listen to the story first, then read along or read independently. 
  • Pg 131: Wordsearch: Match the pictures to the words first and then find in the wordsearch
  • Pg 132: 1. Finish the sentences: Choose: Is breá liom (I love) or Is fuath liom (I hate) (e.g. Is breá liom an nuacht= I love the news) 2. Unscramble the sentences (3rd only)
  • Pg 133: 1. Match the word with the picture (could draw the picture and write the word underneath). 2. Fill in the sentences using the verbs in the yellow box.
  • Pg 134: 1. Listening exercise: Listen and fill in the table. 2. Match the words and. the pictures

  • I know it can be difficult to focus on school work at home sometimes, so here are some tips which might help: :)
-Make sure to take regular movement breaks. 
-Try using timers
-Use a variety of learning spaces: e.g. write at the kitchen table, work on your project on the floor, do some reading outdoors
-Choose a mix of computer based tasks, book work and worksheets, and games and activities
